Next Saturday and Sunday (14th and 15th Nov) at the Ateneu Comercial de Lisboa, the festival opens its doors to all artists, associations and participants from 25 countries who thus share their talents and complicity with Portuguese society.

Organized by the association Immigrant Solidarity in partnership with numerous immigrant and Portuguese associations, ImigrArte is a project committed to the rights of immigrants in Portugal and in solidarity with all migrants from all over the world.

It promotes interculturality and citizenship.

]]> About the campaign:

The ImigrArte Festival was born in 2007, inside the association Solidariedade Imigrante a non-profit organisation of public utility, based in Lisbon, Portugal.

With Festival ImigrArte, we seek to highlight the social and the cultural potential of the immigrants by promoting dialogs between the various foreign communities as well between Portuguese citizens and foreign citizens.

With this initiative we build bridges between the various foreign communities; enhance the initiative of the descendants and promote the art and culture produced by immigrants and their descendants. In the organization of the festival, done in partnership with numerous immigrant associations, the artists and the activists are the immigrants themselves and they are the ones who make the decisions, work out the program and generate the entire event.

Organized entirely by volunteers, this event is considered today as an important social and cultural reference of Lisbon. It involves the voluntary participation of 250 artists from more than 25 countries and it is divided into areas such as music, dance, theatre, cinema, visual arts, photography, literature and crafts.

The program also contains the presence of 30 immigrant associations, various initiatives, international gastronomy, debates, conferences and workshops. About 26 shows and 16 parallel activities are presented and the festival reaches around 3500 visitors.

The ImigrArte has relied on logistical support and partnerships with the Museu do Oriente Foundation, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the O Século Foundation, the Lisbon City Council, the Santa Casa da Misericordia of Lisboa, EGEAC, RTP 2, SIC, RTPÁfrica, TVGlobo, RDPÁfrica, Antena 1, the newspaper Slovo, the magazine Brasileirinho and several online sites and agendas.

The ImigrArte Festival was  created in 2007 by the association Solidariedade Imigrante , a non-profit and public utility organization based in Lisbon.
 This year the ImigrArte Festival, which is in its 10th edition, will take place on the  12th and 13th of November , in a location to be defined in the center of Lisbon.
With this campaign, the organization seeks to raise the necessary funds for the expenses of renting the space for the event and the rental of sound, lighting and technical equipment. These expenses represent around 40% of the festival’s budget. The remaining 60% are covered by the association Solidariedade Imigrante, as a promoting entity. With the help from this campaign, we will be able to improve conditions for all participants.

With the ImigrArte Festival, we seek to highlight and enhance the social and cultural values ​​of immigrant communities by promoting dialogue between different cultures and necessarily between Portuguese citizens and immigrant citizens. With this initiative, we try to bring together and establish links between the various immigrant communities, highlighting and promoting their arts and cultures, promoting their initiatives, as well as those of their descendants.

In its organization, which counts on the partnership of numerous immigrant associations and others, they are the ones who make the decisions, who prepare the program and who manage part of this event. Organized entirely by volunteers and with the presence of around 250 artists, this event is today an important social and cultural reference for the city of Lisbon, involving the participation of a large immigrant community.

The more than 30 participating associations, representing around 25 nationalities and different cultures, also participate in this event with stalls where it is possible to enjoy the gastronomy and handicrafts of the immigrant communities.

The ImigrArte Festival has several initiatives such as the gastronomy of the world, debates and conferences, exhibitions and film cycles, workshops, concerts, dance, literature and theater, among others. A total of 26 shows and 16 parallel activities are presented, with the festival having an average of 3,500,000 visitors on both days.

The ImigrArte Festival has had the support of partners such as Fundação Museu do Oriente, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Fundação O Século e Cozinha O Século, Lisbon City Council, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, EGEAC, RTP2 , SIC, RTPÁfrica, TVGlobo, RDPÁfrica, Antena 1, the newspaper Slovo, the Brasileirinho magazine and with several websites and online agendas.

]]> Here is the video about the Comer Lisboa project carried out in July 2015 in Lisbon, which brought together 12 immigrant associations and more than 100 participants from many nationalities .

The 3-dimensional map of the center of Lisbon was literally built with typical food from the different countries represented in an edible model with more than 40 m2.

The Solidariedade Imigrante association also participated in this project, whose main promoters were Ali&Cia and Teatro Maria Matos in Lisbon (EGEAC).

The Portuguese artist will exhibit a selection of paintings on the theme of multiculturalism.

To liven up the opening, we will have the participation of Cape Verdean musician Cláudio Sena with live music.

As the organization of the 9th edition of the festival has already officially started, the inauguration will be a second opportunity to raise funds, through a sale of cakes and snacks, for those who want to help finance this totally independent festival organized by volunteers.
